Yesterday my son helped me revamp our ‘trash can stuck in a cabinet’. It is now a Pull Out Trash Can!
I was SO excited that we were starting the project that I didn’t get any ‘before’ photos. But here is a shot after we have taken off the cabinet door and are in the process of measuring to position the sliders. To start, I measured the depth of the cabinet and trotted over to my Home Depot to buy some drawer slides that attach to the sides of a cabinet. Mine are 22 inches long.

We used the extra shelf from the cabinet to make the top of the pull-out. We drew the opening size for the trash can and Scott used the jig saw to cut out the shape. Underneath we attached a box that hold the rails. It now slides in and out so easily. I love it!!!
If you decide you might want to make your own Pull Out Trash Can, check out this great website. Lindsay has easy to follow instructions and photos of each step along the way.
I have decided that doing these little projects puts me in a happy mood.
Who would have thought that throwing away trash could be so much FUN!
